To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid series, Konami and Kojima Productions dropped a bomb shell at yesterdays MGS event in Tokyo announcing the newest game in the series titled?Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Footage at the event showed what appears to be Big Boss, the protagonist from MGS3, MGS Peace Walker, and MGS Portable Ops, infiltrating an enemy base at night during a rain storm. The game also was said to be running on Konami?s new FOX engine, which, the audience described to be ?beautiful? and ?stunning?. Some speculation says that this might be an open world MGS game, a genre the games have never ventured into before.

Hideo Kojima, the series founder, was playing the demo using a 360 controller but on a PC so no specific word yet on what platforms the game will be released on, next gen or current gen. Aside from that there hasn?t been a release date either, but since nothing of this game was leaked beforehand, it?s most likely still early in development. Still, it?s nice knowing a brand new MGS game is on the way.
